The Forum on Chinese Ancient History of the Ninth Chinese and Japanese Scholars Kicks OffPublish Date:2018-05-22 16:03

From 24th to 28th August 2018, the forum on Chinese ancient history of the Ninth Chinese and Japanese scholars, sponsored by the History Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Japanese Oriental society, the school of history and culture of the Henan University, Collaborative Innovation Center on Yellow River Civilization Inheritance and Modern Civilization Construction, was held in the ancient capital Kai Feng. More than 50 experts and scholars from the eastern society of Japan, Waseda University, Two Pine University, Keio University, University of Tsukuba, and the History Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Nankai University, Wuhan University, Xiamen University, Shandong University, Shanghai University and Henan University attended the Forum.


At 9 a.m. on the 25th August, Mr. Bu Xianqun, director of the History Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Mr. Ikeda Tomohisa, president of the Japanese Oriental Society Council, Mr. Zhang Baoming, vice president of the Henan University, Mr. Chen Zhiping, President of the Chinese Academy of Ming history, and Miao Shumei, dean of the school of history and culture of Henan University, attended the opening ceremony. At the stage of the conference theme speech chaired by Mr. Ikeda Tomohisa, Professor Chen Zhiping of the Institute of national studies of Xiamen University, Professor Kishimoto Mio of the Oriental Society of Japan, Bu Xianqun of the History Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Professor Cheng Minsheng, the school of history and culture of Henan University, made a keynote speech.

The theme of this forum is “international social and cultural exchange in East Asia”, and 31 papers submitted by Chinese and Japanese scholars. These papers included period from pre Qin to Ming and Qing Dynasties, which covers the different levels of social and cultural exchanges among the main countries of East Asia in different periods of ancient China. The Chinese and Japanese scholars discussed the East Asian cultural exchange and international order in the history of China, the national governance of ancient China, the Maritime Silk Road, and the security of the sea, the Sino Japanese relations, Sino North Korean relations, while achieving many academic consensus, meanwhile also greatly promotes the development of academic and cultural exchanges between China and Japan.
