Undergraduate Program for the Discipline of General History
This program aims to train special talents who can meet the need of Chinese modernization construction and future social development. Graduates of this discipline are supposed to possess good comprehensive quality, solid and systematic specialized knowledge, innovative spirit, practical ability and international vision. The main and special courses offered by this discipline include Ancient Chinese History, Modern Chinese History, History of People's Republic of China, Ancient and Medieval World History, Modern World History, Contemporary World History, Historical Theory and Selected Readings on Chinese History.
The requirements of this discipline are as follows: firstly, the students are supposed to master the fundamental theories and knowledge of the history discipline. Secondly, they should grasp the ability of gaining knowledge, raising questions, analyzing questions and finding solutions to the questions independently; moreover, they should know the basic methods of historical research. Thirdly, they should know the front theory and development trend of the circle of historians. Fourthly, they should possess relatively good oral and literal expression ability, hold certain social practice ability by means of linking theory with practice, and be able to read English history books of this discipline. Lastly, they should possess relatively good skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing English.
Undergraduate Program for the Discipline of World History
This program aims to guide students to grasp the basic theories of world history and historical knowledge of China and foreign countries. Students of this discipline will be trained to establish scientific historical research methods, enhance their insights in historical and realistic issues of China and abroad, get modern consciousness, international vision, and professional knowledge and skills, and be qualified for work in sectors like foreign affairs, foreign trade and economy, scientific research and educational units as well as administrative institutions.
Since 2012, this discipline has initiated the innovative talent training mode and established the experimental class of the discipline of World History. This experimental class adopts small class teaching mode and stresses on fostering students' reading ability of foreign documents and innovation ability in academic areas. It also encourages students to enhance domestic and foreign academic exchanges, and intends to cultivate innovative talents with both professional ability and international vision.
Undergraduate Program for the Discipline of Cultural Artifacts and Museology
The goal of this program is to train professional talents with basic knowledge and relevant technology of Cultural Artifacts, Museology and Archaeology, as well as basic ability of renovating, preserving, appreciating and studying cultural artifacts and managing museums. Graduates of this discipline are expected to work in sectors such as museums and cultural artifact departments at various levels, cultural management and publicity planning, cultural artifacts and artwork operation, as well as higher education and scientific research institutions.
Undergraduate Program for the Discipline of Archaeology
This program cultivates professional talents who understand basic laws and regulations concerning cultural artifacts, are familiar with the basic management system and administrative system of national cultural heritage and cultural artifact protection, and possess basic knowledge and relevant technology of Archaeology, History, Anthropology and Cultural Artifacts. The targeted employment areas of this discipline are as follows: research institutions of archaeology, departments of cultural artifact management, museums, colleges and universities, and other relevant scientific research institutions.
Undergraduate Program for the Discipline of Tourism and Management
This program is the comprehensive reform pilot of normal higher education institutions of Henan province. It aims to cultivate professional talents with basic theories and specialized knowledge, methods and skills of Tourism and Management. After professional trainings, graduates of this discipline could find management positions in tourism and management departments, tourist attractions, tourist hotels, tourism planning and design units, travel agency, travel and shipping companies and other related units.
Undergraduate Program for the Discipline of Cultural Industry
This program trains high-level talents who will get hold of basic theories and methods in Culturology, Economics and Management, be familiar with laws and regulations in the cultural area, and possess broad cultural vision, relatively high understanding and perception of culture, as well as keen consciousness of operation and management. Students in this program are trained to possess relatively high planning, decision-making, organizing, communicating and expressing abilities as well as the ability of exploring cultural market and processing information. They are supposed to conduct cultural management, cultural operation, cultural market operation, cultural products and project planning work in various cultural corporations, mass media, cultural management department of the government, and public institutions.
