    The Center for Israel Studies of Henan University was established in 2002. It focuses on the study of Jewish history, Israeli history and relevant Middle Eastern issues. In 2014, the Center for Israel Studies of Henan University was selected as the key research base of Humanities and Social Sciences of Henan Province. In 2015, under the impetus of Chinese Ministry of Education, Chinese Cultural Association for Jewish Studies was established. The Center for Israel Studies of Henan University became the founding member of this association, while the director of the Center Professor Zhang Qianhong was elected as its vice-president. In 2017, the Center was included in the record list of Chinese Ministry of Education for national and regional studies. In April 2018, Henan University was chosen as a council unit of the "Belt and Road" Think Tank Alliance which was established by the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China, while the Center for Israel Studies of Henan University is the lead agency in charge on the part of Henan University.

    Currently, the Center has 7 full-time researchers. It has published 16 books, of which New Dimensions of Jewish History Studies was included in the National Achievements Library of Philosophy and Social Sciences, Jerusalem: A Biography (translation work) won the Wenjin Book Prize of Chinese National Library in 2015, and Blue Book of Israel: Annual Report on Israel's National Development is in the Blue Book Series of Social Sciences Academic Press. The faculty members of the Center has published over 200 academic papers in famous acadmic journals such as Jewish Studies, Historical Research, World History and so on and so forth. They undertake 7 National Social Science Fund projects as well as 7 privincial and ministerial projects, and meanwhile keep close exchanges and cooperations with foreign universities and institutions like Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Brandeis University and Sino-Israel Global Network & Academic Leadership (SIGNAL).

    Presently, the Center for Israel Studies of Henan University has M.A., Ph. D and post-doctoral programs. After many years' consistent efforts, it has developped into China's largest and most influential research institution for the study of Israel. It gains extensive attentions both in the academic circle and in all sectors of society.
