On October 10th, the round-table symposium on national governance system and its modernization was held in Kaifeng Yitong Hotel, which was sponsored by the Institute of Historical Theory of the Chinese Social Sciences Academy and HENU College of History and Culture, and undertaken by HENU Research Center for Modern Chinese Social Transformation, HENU Institute of Modern China and HENU Modern China's National Governance Research Center.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Zuo Yuhe, Deputy Director of the Institute of Historical Theory of the Chinese Social Sciences Academy. He introduced the participants. More than 30 experts and scholars attended the conference, including Xia Chuntao, Director of the Institute of Historical Theory of the Chinese Social Sciences Academy, Zhang Baoming, Deputy Secretary of HENU CPC Committee, Zhang Ligang, Dean of HENU College of History and Culture and Weng Youwei, Director of HENU Modern China’s National Governance Research Center.

Zhang Baoming, Xia Chuntao and Zhang Ligang delivered speeches respectively. Zhang Baoming introduced the history of Henan University and emphatically introduced the development of the College of History and Culture. He expressed gratitude to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Academy of History and Culture for their exchanges and assistance, and hoped to further strengthen the cooperation with them. Xia Chuntao expressed his gratitude and good wishes to Henan University, and emphasized the necessity and urgency of studying the governance system and its modernization in the face of China's unseen changes in a century. Dean Zhang Ligang, on behalf of HENU College of History and Culture, expressed his sincere gratitude to all the scholars present. He introduced the teaching and research status of Modern History in the College and expressed the hope of strengthening bilateral cooperation.

After the opening ceremony is the theme report. Zhang Baoming took Henan University as an example, emphasizing History should pay more attention to the study of the governance system and its modernization, especially during the accelerating transformation period under China's unseen changes in a century. Taking his own experience, studying and teaching Modern History in Henan University, as a clue, Zuo Yuhe explained the vigorous research development of the modern national governance system in Henan University, focusing on four aspects of Modern History: the history of ideology and culture, the history of political systems, the history of social assistance and the history of PRC. The development process expresses the expectation of young talents to grow together with History. Weng Youwei focused on the distinction between system and historical facts, and discussed the necessity of studying the China’s national governance system in the past. He emphasized that there was an interaction between the governance system and governance capabilities. It was an important task for historical researchers to promote the localization of academic research on the national governance system and promote national confidence and cultural confidence.

The persons in charge of the two research groups "Research on China's Governance System of different generations of leading collective of China" and "Research on the Ideological System of National Governance in Chinese History" delivered speeches respectively.

The scholars introduced the progress of the project and shared the framework and ideas in the following aspects: the grassroots social order of different times in China, the Chinese governance affected by civilization, the selection and employment of officials, administration and supervision, people-oriented thoughts and people's livelihood, the traditional thought of rule of virtue and national governance, etc. Xia Chuntao affirmed the scholars' research on the subject, put forward his own suggestions, and expressed expectations for the further development of the subject.

In this academic seminar, experts and scholars conducted in-depth discussions on China's national governance system and its modernization. The persons in charge of each research group stated that they would work together to achieve fruitful results as early as possible and provide a reference for the governance of China on Socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New Era. Scholars discussed actively, the atmosphere was enthusiastic, and the academic atmosphere was dense. This academic seminar was a complete success.
